A reputable and well-respected educator for many years, Elburn is proud to have had the opportunity to be a source of knowledge, influence and inspiration for so many students throughout his career, and to have shared his love of learning, and of his passion for teaching, with so many colleagues, peers and professionals throughout the educational community.

Charles Russell Elburn

Charles Russell Elburn was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1968, and graduated from Brooklyn Park High Scholl in 1986. He would attend college shortly after high school graduation, successfully earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature not long after. He would then begin his pursuit of a career in teaching, and would join Baltimore City Schools shortly after earning his teaching certificate.

After a successful stint with Baltimore City Schools, Charles Russell Elburn would join the St. Mary’s County Schools district, and would become a respected member of a high school faculty within the district. Known as a devoted, involved and passionate educator, Elburn volunteered much of his time to the school-related activities during his employment in the St. Mary’s district.

Elburn possesses an Advanced Professional Teaching Certificate, and is a member of the Instructional Technologies Professionals Group. He is also a Certified Instructor for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Hooked On Fishing Not On Drugs program (HOFNOD), and remains a member of the International Society for Technology in Education. He earned his Master of Science degree from ITSC in 2006.

Charles Russell Elburn enjoys the many benefits of mountain biking, particularly as someone who resides in such a beautiful area that offers so many great mountain biking challenges, trails and more. As a longtime mountain biking enthusiast, Elburn also enjoys being a part of the Southern Maryland Mountain Bikers Club, a local nonprofit organization that seeks to represent and advocate for the interests of mountain bikers, and other non-motorized trail users, throughout the Southern Maryland region.

The Southern Maryland Mountain Bikers Club, as Charles Russell Elburn knows, is devoted to providing education, promotion and information on the sport of mountain biking. One of their primary goals is to educate the numerous trail users throughout the area on both safe and appropriate use of mountain bikes, as well as to provide encouragement to new mountain bikers through a variety of club activities and events focused on the beginning rider.

The SMMB also works to promote both fitness and the sport of mountain biking to children, and to provide local officials the expert assistance and guidance they need to design, build and maintain cleaner, safer and more enjoyable trails throughout the region.

As a member of the SMMB, Charles Russell Elburn enjoys the many advantages the club provides, including not only the continued promotion and advocacy the club commits to the sport, but also the information and education they make available to riding enthusiasts throughout Southern Maryland.
